How the Crypto / Token Name Generator works

This crypto name generator makes crypto and token names in the shapes crypto projects use: Lumenchain and Orbis Network with a Latin root, Vault Protocol and Halo Finance with a finance word, Nexara and Quantic as a coined syllable name, Ferrocoin and Cobalt Token with a metal, and Tidalswap or Surge Finance with a verb word. Each comes with a three-letter ticker in brackets. Choose a style and generate up to a hundred.

How the crypto name generator works

A crypto project has two names, the long one on the website and the ticker on the exchange, and the ticker is the one people actually say, so this page gives both, the name and a three-letter ticker in brackets, drawn separately so you can keep one and change the other; the five shapes here are the ones coins, tokens, protocols, chains, exchanges and DAOs use. The root-and-chain-word form, Lumenchain, Orbis Network, Astra Labs, Vertexledger, is the shape of the base chain or the infrastructure project, a Latin or Greek root that sounds like physics and a word for the network, and it is the most institutional shape in the trade. The finance-word-and-protocol form, Vault Protocol, Halo Finance, Anchor DAO, Keystonefi, is the decentralised-finance shape, a word for safety or structure and Protocol, Finance, DAO or the fi suffix, and it says a lending market or an exchange rather than a coin. The coined-syllable form, Nexara, Quantic, Velorium, Zorenix, is the shape of the token that wants to be a brand, syllables welded into a word that sounds like a chemical or a star, and it is the most ownable, since the word did not exist before, and the most likely to sound like something else that did, so search it. The metal-or-element-and-coin form, Ferrocoin, Cobalt Token, Argentbit, Titancash, is the oldest shape, borrowed from the first coins, a metal or an element and Coin, Token, Bit or Cash, and it reads as a currency rather than a protocol. And the verb-word-and-swap form, Tidalswap, Surge Finance, Fluxpool, Driftbridge, is the shape of the exchange, the pool and the bridge, a word for motion and a word for the function, and it says what the thing does.

The roots, finance words, syllables, metals and verbs are ordinary and the compounds shared, so a result here is a new combination and not an existing project by design, but the crypto trade has launched hundreds of thousands of tokens and the tickers are the scarcest namespace on this site, so search the token listings and the exchanges for the name and the ticker first, since a duplicate ticker confuses buyers and is refused by listings, then the trademark register in the financial and software classes, the domain and the social handles; a token is also a regulated financial product in a growing number of countries and the name goes on the disclosure, and regulators refuse names that imply a bank, a guarantee or a government. A token name also has to fit a wallet list and a chart legend, so it should be short and the ticker unique.

For the company that builds the chain, the Tech company page; for the app the wallet lives in, the App name page; for the fund that invests in tokens, the Fund and investment firm page; for the software itself, the Software name page; and for the startup behind it, the Startup name page.

    FAQ

How should I choose a ticker?

Three or four capital letters that are not already listed on any major exchange or aggregator, that start with the first letter of the name and that do not spell a word with another meaning. The ticker here is drawn at random, so change it to match the name, then search every listing site before you commit.

Should a token be called a coin, a token or a protocol?

Coin says a native currency of its own chain; Token says an asset issued on someone else's chain; Protocol, Finance and DAO say a service rather than a currency; Network and Chain say infrastructure. Using the wrong one is a common tell for a project that does not know what it is, so pick the true one.

How do I check a crypto name is free?

Search the token listings and aggregators for the name and the ticker first, since duplicates are refused and confuse buyers, then the trademark register in the financial and software classes, the domain, the social handles and the code-hosting platforms. Nothing here checks availability, and coined names and metal coins are heavily used.

Are there names a token cannot use?

Yes. Regulators in a growing number of countries refuse token names that imply a bank, a guarantee, a government, a currency of a state or a famous person, and words like Bank, Trust and Insured are restricted. A coined syllable name or a Latin root avoids the problem; Cash and Coin are watched.

Can I use these names for fiction or test data?

Yes. The names are combinations of Latin roots, finance words, invented syllables, metals and motion words and belong to no one, though a coined name and a random ticker will have namesakes among the many tokens launched, so search before you list. For a token in a story, a game or a demo exchange, use them freely.
