FAQ Builder
Accessible FAQ Section in HTML and CSS with Schema
OneTask is free, with no sign-up, and built by one person.

How the FAQ Builder works
This FAQ builder turns a list of questions and answers into a ready-made FAQ section. Each question
is a native <details> element that opens and closes with no JavaScript, and you can add matching
FAQPage JSON-LD schema in the same copy. Paste one question and answer per line and copy the code.
A short FAQ answers the doubts that stop people buying or signing up, and saves your support team from the same emails. Put it near the bottom of a sales or pricing page, after the main pitch.
How the FAQ builder markup works
Each item is a <details> element with the question in its <summary>. Browsers make the summary
a button that works with the keyboard and tells screen readers whether it is open, so the section
is accessible without any script. The default marker is replaced with a plus sign that turns into
a cross when the answer is open.
FAQPage schema
With schema switched on, the code ends with a <script type="application/ld+json"> block that lists
the same questions and answers as a schema.org FAQPage. Keep it word for word the same as the text on
the page, because search engines ignore markup that does not match what visitors see.
FAQ
Will FAQ schema give me rich results in Google?
Probably not. Google now shows FAQ rich results only for a small set of well-known government and health sites. The markup is still valid and other search engines and AI tools can read it, but do not expect extra space in Google results.
Can I put links or lists in an answer?
Yes. After copying, edit the answer paragraph in the HTML to add links, bold text or a list. If you use the schema, keep the answer text in the JSON matching, and note that it only allows a few simple HTML tags.
How do I make only one answer open at a time?
Give every <details> element the same name attribute, such as name="faq". Modern browsers
then close the others when one opens, like a classic accordion, with no JavaScript at all.
Does Ctrl+F find text inside closed answers?
In Chrome and Edge, yes: find in page searches closed <details> content and opens the matching
item. Other browsers are adding the same behaviour, which is one more reason to use native details.
