How the Bluesky Handle Generator works

This bluesky handle generator gives you handle ideas for Bluesky, from clean name-based handles like @juno.bsky.social to creative ones like @quietfern.bsky.social and custom domain handles like @juno.dev. Add your name for personal results, or leave it blank for random ideas you can make your own.

How the bluesky handle generator works

Choose a style, optionally type your first name, and generate. Clean handles keep it simple, creative handles pair a mood with a nature or space word, professional handles add what you do, and funny handles poke fun at posting habits. Each result is a complete handle you can try in the Bluesky app.

    bsky.social handles and custom domains

Every Bluesky account starts with a handle ending in .bsky.social. If you own a domain, you can use it as your handle instead, so @juno.dev or @news.juno.com becomes your identity. Custom domain handles double as verification, because only the domain's owner can set them up, which is why many journalists and companies use them.

    Choosing a handle

Bluesky handles can use letters, numbers and hyphens, with each part of the handle up to 63 characters. Short handles are easier to mention and remember, and you can change your handle at any time without losing followers, so it's easy to start with one and upgrade to a custom domain later.

    FAQ

How do I change my Bluesky handle?

Go to Settings, then Account, then Handle, and type a new .bsky.social handle or choose to use your own domain. Your followers, posts and display name stay the same; only the handle people mention you with changes.

How do I use my own domain as a Bluesky handle?

In the Handle settings, choose "I have my own domain" and Bluesky shows a DNS TXT record to add at your domain registrar. Once the record is live, tap Verify and your handle switches to your domain, such as @yourname.com.

Is a Bluesky handle the same as a display name?

No. Your handle is the unique @ address people use to mention you, while your display name is the free-text name shown above it and can include spaces and emoji. You can change both whenever you like.
