The founder firm is the ordinary company, named for the person who started it in the manner of the real engineering firms, a surname with a trade, Halcyon Dynamics, Orvane Industrial, Kestrel Orbital, Castellan Holdings, Thorne Aerospace, Okonkwo Yards, Nakamura Void Works, Ashgrove Fuels, or two surnames joined, Farrow-Voss, Solano-Reyes Interstellar, Calder-Halloran Salvage, or the old partnership form, Lindqvist & Quade, Petrov & Tanaka Biotech, which is the name a company keeps for two hundred years after the founder is dead. The compound name is the modern one, two syllables glued together in the manner of the real corporations that renamed themselves in the 1990s, OmniVant, AstraDyne, NovaCore, HelioTron, CryoGen, FerroForge, TerraSys, ExoLux, SynPlex, MetaFlux, or with a trade or suffix, NovaCore Systems, OmniVant Incorporated, UniDrive Robotics, which is a name that sounds like it means something and does not. The acronym is the one that has forgotten its name, three or four letters, KTR, HVC, OLM, PNX, TSRV, or with a trade, HVC Logistics, KTR Security, or a world, OLM-Tarsis, PNX-Callix, since a company big enough is known by its initials and nobody remembers what they stood for. The conglomerate is the holding company at the top, the Castellan Group, the Halcyon Group, the Meridian Combine, Tarsis Mining Consortium, the Ceres Freight Consortium, Vantage Terraforming Unlimited, Ashgrove Fuels Interplanetary, AstraDyne Heavy Interstellar, which is the name on the building rather than on the product.

Founder firm gives the ordinary company. Compound name gives the modern one. Acronym gives the one that forgot its name. Conglomerate gives the holding company.

There is no gender option, since a company has none.
