How the Space Port Name Generator works
Use this space port name generator to fill a shortlist in seconds. Generate space port names: city ports such as Tarsis Spaceport, Callix Interplanetary and Halden Downport, named ports such as Port Calder, Kepler Field and Okonkwo Memorial Spaceport, coded ports such as Landing Zone 7, Pad 412 and Veyra Terminal North, and spacer's names such as the Strip, the Mud, the Hot Skillet and Cinder Pit. Generate up to a hundred at once for the ports a trade route calls at or the field a ship comes down on in the first chapter.
Space port name generator: the patterns behind each name
A space port is where a ship meets a world, and the generator names it four ways in the manner of the real airports and harbours. The city port is the ordinary one, the city with a port word, Tarsis Spaceport, Veyra Starport, Halden Downport, Meridian Terminal, Cinder Field, Nova Ostia Docks, or the city with a scope word in the manner of the real international airports, Callix Interplanetary, Kestrine Interstellar, Seraphis Municipal, Solace Colonial, Ashfall Freight, or both, Dawnreach Regional Spaceport, Thule Central Landing, and the cities are the worlds and towns of the shared setting of this section. The named port is the one named for a person or a hope, in the manner of the real airports named for the famous dead, Port Calder, Port Okonkwo, Kepler Field, Halloran Field, Vasq Memorial Spaceport, Mbeki Memorial Terminal, Castellan Landing, or Port with a virtue, Port Concord, Port Providence, Port Landfall, Port Welcome, which is the name on the sign at the gate. The coded port is the one with no name yet, a number or a letter in the manner of a military landing zone or a numbered pad, Landing Zone 7, Landing Zone 41, Pad 412, Field C-17, Veyra Terminal North, Orlane Field K, Cinder LZ-3, which is how a port is known on a world that has not decided whether it wants one. The spacer's name is what the crews call the field, and crews name a port for what it is like to land on, the Strip, the Mud, the Dust, the Pit, the Flats, the Bowl, the Slab, the Sump, the Scorch, the Apron, the Hot Skillet, the Cold Griddle, the Muddy Yard, the Dusty Lot, the Broken Grid, the Cheap Patch, or the city with the thing, Tarsis Mud, Cinder Pit, Halden Flats, Kestrine Bowl, since the official name is for the sign and the spacer's name is for the bar.
City port gives the ordinary one. Named port gives the one on the sign. Coded port gives the one with no name yet. Spacer's name gives the one in the bar.
There is no gender option, since a port has none.
The lists are original. The cities, surnames and virtues are the shared setting of this section, the port and scope words are the ordinary ones the real airports use, and the spacer's names are built for this page; no published port or franchise name appears in them, a match with a novel, a series or a game would be chance, and a name intended for commercial use should be searched first.
For the colony the port serves, the space colony page; for the station in orbit above it, the space station page; for the ships that land on it, the starship name page; for the world it sits on, the planet name page; and for the smugglers who use the cheap pads, the smuggler name page.
