How the Product Spin Viewer works

This 360 product spin viewer turns a set of photos into a spin. A product spin is a set of photographs taken as an object turns on a table, played back under the viewer's finger so it appears to rotate. Drop the whole sequence here at once, drag sideways to spin it, let it autoplay at the speed you want, and check that the frames are evenly spaced and correctly ordered before you publish them. The images stay in your browser.

360 product spin viewer: preparing the frames

Shoot the object on a turntable with the camera and lighting locked, turning it by the same angle between shots: 24 frames at 15° or 36 at 10° are the usual choices, and 72 at 5° gives a very smooth spin at the cost of more files. Name the files so they sort in order, such as spin-01.jpg to spin-24.jpg; the viewer sorts by filename with numbers treated numerically, so frame-2 comes before frame-10. Crop every frame identically so the object does not jump.

Drop all the files together, either by selecting them all in the file picker or by dragging the whole set from a folder. Every frame is decoded and kept in memory, so a set of 36 JPEGs at 2000 pixels is fine; a set of 200 RAW-sized PNGs will be slow.

Spinning

Drag left or right across the viewport to step through the frames; the distance you drag maps to the number of frames, so one full sweep of the viewport is about one and a half turns. The mouse wheel zooms in to check detail. Autoplay steps through the frames on a timer at the chosen speed, where 1 is roughly one turn every four seconds, and Direction reverses the order if your turntable went the other way from what you expected. The statistics show the current frame number and the frame size.

What to look for

Watch the spin for a frame that jumps: a file out of order, a missed shot, or a frame where the lighting changed. Watch the base of the object; if it drifts left and right, the turntable centre was not under the object and the frames need re-cropping. Uneven spacing shows as a spin that speeds up and slows down. Fixing these before you hand the set to a shop platform saves re-shooting later.

Downloading

Download PNG saves the current frame as displayed at the size chosen in the rail, which is a quick way to pull a single angle out of a spin set for a listing thumbnail.

Privacy

All frames are read from disk into your browser's memory. Nothing is uploaded and the page works offline once it has loaded.

FAQ

How many photos do I need for a 360° spin?

Twenty-four frames at 15° intervals is the minimum that feels smooth when dragged; 36 at 10° is the common e-commerce standard; 72 at 5° is very smooth but doubles the download for your customers. The viewer works with any count from two upwards.

In what order are the frames played?

By filename, sorted so that numbers compare numerically rather than as text: image-9 comes before image-10. Zero-padding the numbers, as in 001, 002, 003, removes any doubt. If the spin runs the wrong way, choose Reverse rather than renaming the files.

Can I drop a video instead of images?

Not here. Extract the frames first with the video frame capture tool, or export an image sequence from your editor, then drop the images. The viewer only reads still images.

Why does the product wobble as it turns?

The object was not centred on the turntable axis, or the frames were cropped differently. The fix is to crop all frames around the same fixed point, which most batch image editors can do once you know the offset.
