How the Video A-B Loop works
This video A-B loop player repeats one passage of a clip until you have it. Play to the start of the part you want, press Set A, play to the end and press Set B. The section loops endlessly, at full speed or slowed down. Your video is played locally and never uploaded.
Repetition is how physical skills are learned. A guitarist working out a solo, a dancer learning a routine or a coach studying a golf swing needs the same three seconds again and again, not the whole video. Scrubbing back by hand breaks concentration every time. An A-B loop removes that.
How the video A-B loop works
The tool watches the playhead about 60 times a second. When playback reaches point B it jumps straight back to point A, and counts one repeat. Nothing is rendered or copied, so setting a new loop is instant and you can move A and B as often as you like while the video plays.
If you press Set B without setting A, the loop starts from the beginning of the clip. Setting a new A after B clears B, so a loop can never run backwards.
Speed and pitch
| Speed | Use it for |
|---|---|
| 0.25 | Footwork, fingering and fast hand movements |
| 0.5 | Learning a passage note by note or step by step |
| 0.75 | Practising just under tempo |
| 1 | Checking you can keep up |
| 1.25 | Overlearning, so full speed feels easy |
Keep pitch slows the sound without making it deeper, so a melody stays in tune with your instrument. Natural lets the pitch drop as it slows, like an old tape, which can make drum hits and footsteps easier to pick out.
Tips and pitfalls
Start A a beat early. A loop that begins right on the move gives no lead-in. Half a second before lets you prepare, as you would in a real performance.
Build speed in steps. Loop at 0.5 until it is clean, then 0.75, then full speed. Jumping straight to full speed tends to bake in the mistakes.
Short loops can stutter. Jumping back takes a moment for the browser to seek, so loops under about half a second may click or skip a frame. Make the loop a little longer if it does.
Audio only? For songs and recordings without a picture, the audio A-B loop player works the same way.
How to read the result
The stats show points A and B, the loop length in video time and in real time at your chosen speed, and how many times the loop has repeated since you set it.
FAQ
How do I loop just part of a video?
Load the video and play it. Press Set A where the section starts and Set B where it ends. The player jumps back to A every time it reaches B, until you press Clear loop or set new points.
Can I slow the loop down?
Yes. Choose a speed between 0.25 and 1.25. With Keep pitch selected the sound stays in tune, which matters for music practice. The speed changes straight away, without resetting the loop or its repeat count.
Does the loop change my video file?
No. The tool only controls playback. Nothing is cut, re-encoded or saved, so the original file is untouched. To make a clip that contains only the looped section, use the video trimmer instead.
Is my video uploaded to loop it?
No. The video is opened by your browser and played from your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it works with private recordings and keeps working if you lose your connection.
