How the Album Name Generator works
Use this album name generator to fill a shortlist in seconds. Generate album names in the shapes real records use: Cathedral and Nostalgia as a one-word title, Hollow Cathedral and Static Bloom as a two-word mood, Songs for the Long Drive and Notes from a Burning House as a dedication, Everything Is Temporary as a sentence, Longing, Vol. II as a numbered volume, and Live at the Harbour and Blue Hour EP as a live or EP title. Pick a genre, choose a shape and generate up to a hundred.
Album name generator: the patterns behind each name
An album title names a whole record rather than a hook, so it is quieter and more abstract than a song title, and the shapes have settled by era and genre, which is why the Genre select changes the words and the Shape select changes the grammar. The one-word form, Cathedral, Nostalgia, Ruin, Signal, is the modern default, a single noun or abstraction that fits a square cover at thumbnail size, and it is the shape electronic and hip-hop records favour because the artist's name does the rest. The two-word mood, Hollow Cathedral, Static Bloom, Burning Empire, Golden Fever, is the rock and indie shape, an adjective and a noun that together sound like the record's colour. The dedication form, Songs for the Long Drive, Notes from a Burning House, Music for Airports, Hymns for the Weary, is the shape that frames the record as made for a purpose or sent from a place, and it is a folk and indie favourite, with one famous ambient ancestor. The sentence form, Everything Is Temporary, We Were Golden Once, This Is Not the Season, is the confessional shape of the last twenty years, a statement that reads as the record's thesis. The numbered volume, Longing, Vol. II, Empire III, Blue Season, Part IV, is the sequel and the series, and it is used honestly by an artist continuing a record and playfully by one pretending to. And the live or EP form, Live at the Harbour, Live from Berlin, Blue Hour EP, The Hollow Sessions, is the title that describes the release rather than names it, and a discography with one Live at and one EP in it looks like a real discography.
The words are ordinary English in the shapes records use, so a result is a new combination rather than a real album by design, though one-word album titles are shared by dozens of records each and titles are not copyrighted, so a coincidence is normal and harmless. An album title is also read on a thumbnail and printed on a spine, so the shapes here are one to five words, and the volume numbers are short.

FAQ
What makes a good album name?
One that names the record's mood without naming a song, in a shape that fits a square cover. One and two words read best at thumbnail size; a sentence works when it is the record's thesis; a dedication works when the record has a purpose. The title should not be the best song's title unless the song is the point of the record.
Should the album be named after a song?
It is the oldest convention and still common, and it helps a listener find the record by its single. The cost is that the record is then remembered for one track. The one-word and two-word shapes here give a record its own name; if you want a title track, pick a song title from the Song title page and use it for both.
What is the difference between an album, an EP and a mixtape title?
Nothing in the grammar, only in the convention: an EP often carries EP after its name, Blue Hour EP, a live record says where, Live at the Harbour, and a mixtape in hip-hop is often a volume, Pressure, Vol. II, or a numbered title. The Live or EP and Numbered volume shapes produce those; the other shapes suit all three.
Can two albums have the same name?
Yes; titles are not copyrighted, and one-word titles are shared by many records. The only issue is search and confusion, so if the title is a single common word, expect listeners to find it by the artist's name, and search the title before release to see who you would be sharing it with.
Can I use these names for fiction or test data?
Yes. The names are ordinary English words in the shapes records use, and titles are not owned, so they belong to no one, and coincidence with a real record is expected and harmless. For a fictional band's discography, a music app's demo library, a playlist cover or a sample release schedule, use them freely.
