How the Borderlands Name Generator works

This Borderlands name generator names the chaos of Pandora: Vault Hunters such as Rax the Gunzerker, bandit bosses such as Flynt the Toothless, guns such as the Second Opinion or a Shocking Rattler, and Psychos such as Burny McBurnface. Pick a kind or mix them.

How the Borderlands name generator gets the tone right

Borderlands is loud, violent and silly, and its names are jokes as often as they are threats. Vault Hunters get a short punchy name and a class title, Siren, Gunzerker or Beastmaster. Bandit bosses get an unflattering adjective that becomes a badge, the Toothless or the Unwashed. Legendary guns get innocent or ironic names, Chuckles, Nice Day, Grandma, and ordinary loot combines a manufacturer-style prefix with a weapon noun. Psychos shout, so their names are in capitals or are nicknames a child might make up.

    Naming your own Vault Hunter

The best Borderlands names are short enough to shout across an arena. Pick one or two syllables, then add a title that says how you fight: a Siren uses powers, a Gunzerker holds two guns, a Commando drops turrets. A nickname that sounds slightly ridiculous fits the series better than a dead-serious one.

    FAQ

    How are Borderlands guns named?

Ordinary guns get a manufacturer-flavoured prefix and a weapon type, while legendary and unique guns get joke names with red flavour text, such as the Unkindness or the Bonefinder. The generator makes both kinds.

    What is a Vault Hunter?

A Vault Hunter is a mercenary who searches for the alien Vaults on Pandora and other planets. Each playable character in Borderlands is a Vault Hunter with a class and a special skill.

    Are these official Borderlands names?

No. The generator makes original names in the series' style. Some Vault Hunter class titles and first names come from the games for flavour, so combinations may echo canon characters.
