How the Honkai Star Rail Name Generator works
A Honkai Star Rail name generator for original characters, starships and cosmic cults. Honkai Star Rail is a space fantasy game where a crew travels by train between very different worlds. Pick a world type and generate names for an OC who grew up on a frontier planet, a cloud ship or a dream city.
How the Honkai Star Rail name generator works
Every world has its own culture, so each world type has its own naming style. Frontier planets get dusty space-western names, Jett Ridley. Cloud ships, the floating immortal cities, get Chinese names with the family name first, Yun Jianmo. Dream cities get glamorous stage names and dreamy surnames, Seraphine Nocturne. Research stations get scientists with names from many real cultures, Dr Tova Lindqvist. Frozen worlds get hardy Nordic and Slavic names, Kasimir Frostmarch. Starships get hopeful travel names like the Wandering Voyager. Cosmic cults get eerie group names like the Laughing Chorus or the Choir of the Broken Mirror.
World types, not places
The generator describes worlds by type so all names are original. Choose the type closest to where your character grew up.

FAQ
How do I name a Honkai Star Rail OC?
Decide which kind of world your character grew up on, then pick the matching style. A dream city performer should sound glamorous, while a frontier kid should sound tough and dusty, so the name hints at their past before readers learn it.
Why do cloud ship names put the family name first?
The cloud ship style is inspired by Chinese culture, where the family name comes before the given name. Following that order, like Bai Lingyue, makes the name read naturally for a character from one of the floating immortal cities.
How do I name a starship?
Starship names in a space fantasy should sound hopeful and adventurous. Combine a word about the stars or travel, like astral or wandering, with a word for a traveller or guide, like voyager, pilgrim or lantern.
Can I use these names in other sci-fi games?
Yes. The names are original and fit any space fantasy or space opera setting, from sci-fi tabletop campaigns to anime-style games and fan fiction with a crew travelling between strange worlds, cults and cities.
