This generator gives four-digit item numbers, original containment classes from Contained to Critical, nicknames that staff might use, and the odd procedures that keep each item safe. It is a catalogue entry for an anomaly, made of an item number, a containment class and procedures. The humour and horror come from describing something impossible in calm, official language, like a lab report.
What do the containment classes mean?
This generator uses original classes. Contained means the anomaly is stable. Unstable means it sometimes escapes. Critical means it could cause widespread harm. Dormant means inactive, Unknown means unclassified and Hostile means aggressive.
Can I post these on the SCP wiki?
The SCP wiki has its own rules, formats and object classes. This generator uses original classes, so entries would need rewriting to fit. It is best for your own anomaly-archive stories, games and worldbuilding projects.
How do I write a containment note?
Write it in a calm, bureaucratic voice, with exact rules and no emotion. The stranger the rule, the more readers wonder why it is needed, which builds curiosity and dread without explaining everything.
