How the Video Jump Cut Maker works
This video jump cut maker listens to the soundtrack of a talking video, finds every pause and cuts it out, leaving a tight run of speech with quick jump cuts between sentences. It suits vlogs, tutorials, YouTube explainers and short-form social clips where dead air loses viewers.
How the video jump cut maker finds silence
The audio is decoded and measured in 20 millisecond slices. Any slice quieter than the silence level counts as quiet. Pauses longer than the shortest pause setting are removed, and shorter ones are kept so natural breathing between words is not chopped up.
Choosing the settings
Start with the silence level at -40 dB. If background noise or a fan stops pauses being found, raise it towards -30 dB. If quiet word endings are being clipped, lower it. Padding keeps a little sound before and after each phrase so words do not start or stop abruptly, and 100 to 150 ms sounds natural for most speakers.
Rendering
The kept pieces are played back one after another and recorded straight into a new file with the original sound, so the render takes as long as the finished video. Output is WebM in Chrome, Edge and Firefox or MP4 in Safari.
FAQ
Does it work with music in the background?
Only partly. Music fills the pauses, so the tool sees fewer gaps. Raise the silence level until the music is below it, or record the voice without music and add the soundtrack afterwards.
Can I cut silences from an audio file instead?
Yes. For podcasts and voice recordings without a picture, use the silence remover, which works on audio files directly and is much faster because it does not need to play the video back.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The sound is analysed and the new video is recorded by your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so your footage stays private.
