How the word scramble maker mixes the letters
Each word is shuffled until no letter is left in its original place where possible, so the scramble never gives the answer away by accident. Letters are spaced out and printed in capitals, which makes them easier to read and to cross off one by one. Press New puzzle to scramble the same words again.
Hints and order
The first-letter hint shows the starting letter on the answer line, a good middle step for early spellers. The letter-count hint just says how long the word is. Keep "As typed" order if the list follows a lesson sequence, or shuffle it so the answers are not in the order the class learned them.
Ideas for lists
Weekly spelling words, a science topic's vocabulary, names of characters in a class book, or countries and capitals all work well. Words of four to ten letters give the best puzzles.

About 20 words fit on a single printed page. The maker accepts up to 60, which spreads over two or three pages, so a whole term's spelling list can go on one worksheet if you want a longer challenge.
Can I include phrases?
Yes. Each word in a phrase is scrambled on its own and the spaces are kept, so "ice cream" becomes two jumbled words. This helps solvers, who can see the shape of the answer from the gaps.
