How the Add Music to Video works
Add music to video without an editing app. Drop in one video and one audio file, choose whether the music replaces the original sound or plays underneath it, set the two volumes and press Render. The page records a new video with the soundtrack mixed in. Nothing is uploaded.
Add music to video: mix or replace
A holiday clip with wind noise, a product demo with silence, a slideshow that needs a beat: most short videos are better with a track under them. "Replace the sound" drops the original audio completely. "Mix with the original sound" keeps voices and ambience at a lower level so the music sits behind them. Around 30–40% original and 80% music suits most talking clips; push the original down further for scenery.
Timing the track
"Start the music at" skips into the song, which is useful when the intro is slow and the part you want begins 20 seconds in. If the song is shorter than the video it loops by default. Choose "Stop" to let it end and leave silence, and the result tells you how long the music lasted.
What files work
Any video your browser can play, plus MP3, AAC, M4A, WAV, OGG or Opus audio. Drop both files at once. Rendering plays the video in real time, so a one-minute clip takes a minute. The result is WebM in Chrome, Edge and Firefox and MP4 in Safari. To cut the song first, use the audio trimmer; to pull a soundtrack out of another video, use extract audio from video.
A note on rights
Music you did not make is usually under copyright. Platforms such as YouTube and Instagram match uploaded audio against known recordings and may mute or block the video. Royalty-free and Creative Commons tracks avoid that, as long as you follow their licence terms.
FAQ
Can I use a song from my phone?
Yes, if the file is on your device. Drop the video and the song together. Tracks from streaming apps are usually locked inside the app and cannot be used as a file, so they will not work here.
How do I stop the music from drowning out speech?
Choose "Mix with the original sound" and lower the music to around 30–50% while keeping the original sound high. Play the result back on a phone speaker, since that is how most people hear short videos.
What happens if the music is longer than the video?
The music is cut off when the video ends. The output is always exactly as long as the video, so pick a start point that makes the ending land where you want it.
