This poster maker online free tool designs at 300 DPI. Choose the paper size and the canvas becomes that sheet at 300 dots per inch — A4 is 2480 by 3508 pixels. The headline, date line and details fill in from the side panel; click any of them on the canvas to change its font, size, colour or alignment, or drag it somewhere else. Add image places a photo or logo in the middle, ready to move and resize; Box and Circle make coloured panels; Download PNG gives you the print file and Download SVG gives an editable vector for a print shop.
Poster maker online free: what to know first
A flyer for a gig, a lost cat, a bake sale or a village meeting does not need a design program; it needs a big headline, when and where in a readable size, one picture, and a border to make it look intentional. This page starts from that layout on a sheet of the size you will print on, so what you download goes straight to the printer without resizing or resampling.
Print resolution. Home and shop printers want 300 pixels per inch. A4 is 210 by 297 mm, which is 2480 by 3508 pixels at 300 dpi; A3 is double the area; US Letter is 2550 by 3300. The canvas is exactly those sizes, displayed scaled down to fit your screen, and the PNG is exported at full size. If a print shop asks for a specific dpi in the file's metadata, run the download through the image dpi tool.
Text sizes follow the paper. The headline is set at a ninth of the page width, the date line at a twenty-fourth and the details at a fortieth, so switching from A4 to A3 keeps the proportions rather than leaving tiny text on a big sheet. After that the sizes are yours: click any text and the Selected item panel exposes font, size, weight, alignment and shadow.
Vector output. Download SVG writes the text as text and the border as a rectangle, so a designer or print shop can open it in Inkscape or Illustrator and change things. Photos you have added are embedded in the SVG as bitmap data, so the file can be large.
Colour. Paper and Ink set the background and all the text at once, which is the quick way to try a dark poster with light type. The border follows the ink colour. Individual elements can then be recoloured on their own.
Privacy. Nothing is sent anywhere. The images you add are read locally, the design lives on a canvas in the browser and the download is produced there.
FAQ
Can I add a photo behind everything?
Yes. Add image, drag the photo's corners until it covers the sheet, then press Back repeatedly until it sits behind the text and border. Lowering its opacity in the Selected item panel keeps the text readable.
Why is the download so big?
An A3 sheet at 300 dpi is 3508 by 4961 pixels, and a PNG of that with a photo on it can be 10 MB or more. That is normal for a print file. For sharing online, use Download JPEG, or design in Square 2000 instead.
Will the colours print the way they look on screen?
Roughly. Screens show RGB and printers use CMYK, so very bright greens, oranges and blues come out duller on paper. Dark ink on light paper prints reliably; if colour accuracy matters, ask the print shop for a proof.
Can I save the design and come back to it?
Not yet — the page does not store anything, so a closed tab loses the layout. Download the SVG if you want an editable copy; it can be reopened in any vector editor.
Is there a bleed or safe margin?
The border sits 6% in from each edge, which is well inside the 3 mm bleed most printers trim. Keep text inside the border and it will not be cut off.
