How the Text to Video Card works

This text to video card maker turns a title, a quote or a short announcement into a video clip. Type the words, choose colours, size and length, add a fade or typewriter effect and press Render. Use it as an intro, a chapter break or an end card, made in your browser.

Title cards are the oldest trick in film editing: a plain frame of text that sets the scene, names a chapter or tells the viewer where they are. Editing apps bury them in menus and templates; this tool makes one in seconds so you can drop it into any editor or post it on its own.

How the text to video card is made

The text is wrapped to 84% of the frame width and the font size is chosen so every line fits inside 80% of the height. It starts at 9% of the frame's shorter side and shrinks until the text fits, so a short title is large and a long quote is smaller. Each frame is drawn on a canvas at 30 fps and encoded as a video.

The animations

Words Comfortable length
1–5 3 s
6–15 4–6 s
16–30 7–10 s

Most people read about 4 words a second on screen; add a second for the animation.

Tips and pitfalls

Line breaks are yours. Press Enter in the text box to force a break, for a title over a subtitle or the lines of a short poem.

Match the footage. Use the same size as the clips you will join it to. A 1080 × 1920 card in a landscape edit will be pillarboxed.

Contrast. Light text on a dark background is easiest to read and survives compression best.

FAQ

How do I make a title card for a video?

Type your title in the text box, pick the same size as your footage, choose Fade in and a length of 3 to 5 seconds, then press Render. Import the downloaded clip into your editor and place it at the start of the timeline.

Can I make a typewriter text effect?

Yes. Choose Typewriter. The characters appear one at a time over the first 60% of the clip, then the full text stays on screen so it can be read. Set a longer length for longer text to slow it down.

Which fonts are used?

The card uses your device's standard system font in bold, such as Segoe UI on Windows or San Francisco on Apple devices. That keeps the text crisp and readable without downloading any fonts.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. The card is drawn and encoded by your own browser, and the text never leaves your device. Nothing is uploaded or stored on a server, so drafts and unannounced titles stay private.
