How the Slideshow Maker works

This slideshow maker turns a set of photos, with an optional song, into one video. Drop the pictures and music together, set the seconds per photo, choose a crossfade and slow zoom, and press Render. There is no watermark, no sign-in and nothing is uploaded.

Slideshows are for birthdays, memorials, school events, weddings, product galleries and the end of a holiday. Most free slideshow apps want an account, add their logo or cap the length. This tool does one job: photos in order, gentle movement, music underneath, and a video file out.

How the slideshow maker builds the video

Photos are sorted by file name, so name them 01, 02, 03 to set the order. Each photo is fitted or cropped to the frame and held for the time you choose. With Crossfade, the next photo fades in over the last third of each slide, up to one second. Slow zoom pushes in by 8% over each slide, the gentle "Ken Burns" movement that makes stills feel alive. Frames are drawn at 30 fps while the music plays into the recorder.

Planning the length

Total length is the number of photos times the seconds per photo.

Photos 3 s each 5 s each
20 1 min 1 min 40 s
40 2 min 3 min 20 s
60 3 min 5 min

To fit a song exactly, divide the song's length in seconds by the number of photos. A 3:30 song (210 seconds) and 42 photos gives 5 seconds each.

Tips and pitfalls

Fill or fit. Fill the frame crops portrait photos in a landscape video to remove bars. Use Fit inside if heads or faces near the edge get cut off.

Real-time render. A 3-minute slideshow takes 3 minutes to make. Keep the tab visible.

Short music. If the song ends before the photos, the rest is silent; the tool warns you.

Big photos. Phone photos are about 12 megapixels each. Fifty of them are fine on a laptop; on a phone, resize them first if the page struggles.

How to read the result

The stats show the number of photos, the video length, the music used, the frame size and file size.

FAQ

How do I make a slideshow with music for free?

Select your photos and one MP3 or M4A file together and drop them here. Choose the seconds per photo, keep Crossfade and Slow zoom, then press Render. Download the finished video; it has no watermark and needs no account.

How do I set the order of the photos?

Photos are sorted by file name in natural number order. Rename them with leading numbers such as 01-beach.jpg and 02-dinner.jpg before you drop them. The camera's own names, like IMG_0041, usually sort in the order they were taken.

How many seconds should each photo show?

Three to five seconds suits most slideshows. Use less for fast, upbeat music and more for a slow song or a memorial. To match a song, divide its length in seconds by the number of photos you have.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The photos and music are read and the video is encoded by your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so family pictures and private events never leave your device at any point.
