How the Alien RPG Name Generator works

An Alien RPG name generator for sci-fi horror in the style of the famous films. Colonial marines, roughneck colonists and corporate agents face terror at the edge of space. Generate marines, colonists, company agents, ships and colonies.

How the Alien RPG name generator works

Marines get ranks and tough surnames, often shouting each other's surnames or nicknames over the radio, so the generator includes both. Colonists get plain names and hard jobs, from roughneck to terraformer. Company agents are the smooth corporate representatives who put everyone at risk. Ships use registry prefixes and mythological names, and colonies use catalogue codes like LV-178.

    Surnames under fire

Marines usually go by surnames in combat. Pick a short surname that is easy to shout, and give a nickname to the squad's loudest member.

    FAQ

What names suit a colonial marine?

Short, strong surnames that are easy to shout, like Boone or Kovac, with a rank. Nicknames add personality and make squad banter more fun at the table.

    How are colonies named?

Colonies often use catalogue codes, a pair of letters and a number, like KG-1201. Later, colonists might give the settlement a friendlier name, like Sutter Station.

How do I name a company agent?

Give them a smooth, forgettable name and a corporate job title. The agent should sound polite and reasonable, even though they are probably the most dangerous person on the ship.

Can I use these in other sci-fi horror games?

Yes. The names are original and fit any military sci-fi, space marine or sci-fi horror game or story, and the colony codes work well for any frontier setting.
