How the Dark Souls name generator works
Dark Souls characters usually carry one name and a place or title rather than a surname. Siegmeyer of Catarina, Solaire of Astora, Artorias the Abysswalker. The name tables mix Old English, Germanic and invented forms in the same way. Knights get a homeland or an order, pilgrims a hollowed or undead tag, and Lords the grandest titles. Bosses often have descriptive names with no personal name at all, like the Crystal Sage or the Abyss Watchers, so the Boss option can give a pure title too.
Knights, pilgrims and lords
The Knight option suits a sworn warrior of a fallen kingdom. Pilgrim gives the travelling undead, bound for some distant bell or bonfire. Lord gives the rulers and Lords of Cinder who link the fire or refuse to. Female names draw on the witches, priestesses and fire keepers who fill the series.

Why do Dark Souls characters not have surnames?
Most characters are known by a single name and where they come from, like Solaire of Astora or Siegmeyer of Catarina. This is a medieval convention, and it makes the world feel old and scattered. The generator follows it, attaching a homeland, order or title instead.
What is a Lord of Cinder?
In Dark Souls III, the Lords of Cinder are heroes who once linked the First Flame and were raised again to do so. They include Aldrich, Yhorm and the Abyss Watchers. The Lord option in the generator can give a name with that title for a new one.
How are Dark Souls boss names built?
Many boss names are simply descriptions of the creature: the Crystal Sage, the Old Demon King, the Dancer of the Boreal Valley. Others pair a title and a personal name, like Pontiff Sulyvahn. The generator uses both forms so you get a mix of named and nameless bosses.
Can I use these names for Elden Ring?
Yes. Elden Ring uses the same naming habits, with single names and grand epithets such as Godrick the Grafted or Malenia, Blade of Miquella. Generated names fit Tarnished characters and invented demigods just as well as Dark Souls ones.
