How the Homebrew Monster Name Generator works
A homebrew monster name generator for homebrew creatures. Pick a creature type, from aberration and construct to fiend, ooze and undead, and get monster names that sound like they belong in a bestiary. Use them to surprise players who have memorised every official stat block.
How the homebrew monster name generator works
D&D sorts monsters into creature types, and each type has its own naming habits. Aberrations get alien syllables that are hard to say. Beasts and monstrosities are named plainly for what they look like, like the Razorback Boar or the Spiderhorror. Constructs pair a material with a job, fiends get harsh infernal names and a role, and undead take a grim adjective or the place they haunt. The generator follows each type's style, so a name tells your players what kind of fight is coming before you read the stat block.
Homebrew tips
A new name on an old stat block is the fastest homebrew there is. Reskin a known monster with a fresh name and one new trait and experienced players will approach it with proper caution.

FAQ
How do I name a homebrew monster?
Start from its creature type and its most striking feature. A beast or monstrosity can be named plainly for its look or habitat. An aberration or fiend benefits from a strange, invented name. The generator does this for every type, so pick one and roll until something sparks an idea.
Which creature types are included?
Aberration, Beast, Construct, Dragon, Elemental, Fey, Fiend, Monstrosity, Ooze, Plant and Undead. Humanoids and giants are covered by their own name pages in this section. Pick Any to mix types for a random encounter table.
Why do monster names matter?
A name is the first thing players learn about a monster, and it sets expectations. The Weeping Revenant and the Grey Pudding promise very different fights. A good name builds tension before initiative and gives players something to remember and fear later in the campaign.
Can I use these names in other games?
Yes. The names follow fantasy conventions shared by most tabletop RPGs, so they work in Pathfinder, OSR games and homebrew systems. Creature types are a D&D concept, but the names themselves are general enough for any fantasy bestiary.
