How the Mausritter Name Generator works

A Mausritter name generator for small mouse adventurers in a big, dangerous world. In Mausritter-style games, brave mice explore ruined human spaces and wild fields, facing cats, owls and snakes. Generate mice with family names and birthsigns, mouse settlements, and the beasts they fear.

How the Mausritter name generator works

Mice get plant and seed first names, Clover or Fennel, and cosy family names, Seedwhistle or Thornbury. Knights get a Sir. The birthsign option adds one of the signs mice are born under, like the Star or the Wheel. Settlements combine small natural things with homely endings, Thimblewick. Beasts get titles, since to a mouse a cat is a monster with a name.

    Big world, small names

Mouse names should be tiny, earthy and gentle. The contrast with a huge, hungry cat named Grimalkin makes the danger feel real.

    FAQ

What do Mausritter names sound like?

Earthy and small, drawn from plants, seeds and hedgerows, like Tansy Crumb or Burdock Hollowstem. They sound like mice from a storybook with a brave streak.

    What is a birthsign?

In Mausritter-style games, each mouse is born under a sign that shapes their personality, like the Storm or the Moon. Adding it to a name is a quick way to hint at character.

    How are mouse settlements named?

Pair a small natural thing with a homely ending, like Mossbank or Pebbleholt. Settlements are hidden in roots and walls, so names should sound snug and tucked away.

Can I use these in other animal games?

Yes. The names are original and fit any mouse, woodland animal or small-creature adventure game or story, including stories for children and other tiny heroes facing a very big world.
