How the Mork Borg Name Generator works

A Mork Borg name generator for doom metal dark fantasy. In Mörk Borg-style games, the world is ending, the prophecies are coming true, and the heroes are desperate scum trying to survive a little longer. Generate doomed scum with grim epithets, cursed towns, cults and dark gods.

How the Mork Borg name generator works

Scum get short, harsh names that sound like they were spat out, Grul or Vekka, plus a miserable epithet like the Twice-Hanged. Towns use Scandinavian-flavoured parts, Galgvik, since the game has a Swedish doom metal aesthetic. Cults get bleak names like the Weeping Choir. Dark gods get twisted syllables and apocalyptic titles like Eater of Days.

    Harsh and brief

Characters die fast and the world is ending. Short, ugly names fit the mood better than grand fantasy ones.

    FAQ

What do Mork Borg names sound like?

Harsh, short and grim, like Skarn the Rotten or Morga the Blind. The game is about doom and misery, so names sound more like curses than heroic titles.

Why do characters have miserable epithets?

In a world this bleak, nobody is called the Brave. Epithets like the Unwashed or Worm-Eaten add dark humour and tell the table exactly what kind of wretch they are dealing with.

    How are dark gods named?

Dark gods get strange, heavy syllables and a title about the end of the world, like Galiss, Crown of Ash. They should sound ancient, hungry and impossible to reason with.

Can I use these in other dark fantasy games?

Yes. The names are original and fit any grim, doom-laden or heavy metal fantasy game or story, whatever system you use, and they make excellent villains and cult leaders in almost any setting.
