How the Ravnica Name Generator works
A Ravnica name generator for city-world campaigns in D&D, sorted by guild type. In a Ravnica-style setting, the whole world is one vast city run by rival guilds, each with its own purpose, culture and naming style. Pick a guild type, lawmakers, legion, performers, plant cult, inventors, merchants of the dead or spies, and generate members, or generate names for your own guilds.
How the Ravnica name generator works
Each guild type has its own voice. Lawmakers get formal surnames and bureaucratic ranks, Arbiter, Precinct Warden. The legion gets martial surnames like Ironhand and ranks like Centurion. Performers and cultists get wild stage names, the Firedancer. The plant cult gets green, rooty surnames and a grove. Inventors get clanking surnames like Coilspark and titles like Blast Engineer. Merchants of the dead get names about debt, gold and graves. Spies get a shadowy surname or no name at all, just a title like the Faceless. The Guild name mode builds your own guilds, the Gilded Syndicate or the Conclave of Sunken Roots.
Guild types, not guild names
The generator describes guilds by what they do rather than by their published names. That lets you map each type to the official guilds if you use them, or build a new city with guilds of your own.

FAQ
What do Ravnica names sound like?
Urban and a little baroque, with a mix of Eastern European and Latin sounds. Surnames tell you the guild: formal for lawmakers, martial for soldiers, playful for performers and mechanical for inventors.
Why are the guilds listed by type?
The published guild names belong to the setting's owner, so the generator uses descriptive guild types instead. Each type matches a guild role you will recognise, so you can pick the one closest to your character's guild.
How do I name a new guild?
Use the Guild name mode. A good guild name pairs a colour or material with a group word, like the Silver Senate, or names what the guild does, like the Syndicate of Grave-Coin.
Can I use these for other city campaigns?
Yes. The names are original and work in any sprawling fantasy city with rival factions, thieves' guilds, merchant houses and secret societies, whether in D&D or any other fantasy system.
