How the Device Screen Mockup works
This phone mockup generator free tool puts screenshots in a device. A screenshot on a device sells an app or a website better than a bare rectangle. Drop your screenshot, choose a phone, tablet or laptop, set the body colour and pose and download a PNG at up to 4K, with a transparent background if you want to place it on your own artwork. The render is made in your browser and the screenshot stays on your computer.
Phone mockup generator free: choosing a device
The three devices are generic, unbranded shapes with realistic proportions: a tall phone with a narrow bezel, a tablet with a wider bezel and a laptop with a hinged lid and a trackpad. They are deliberately not copies of any manufacturer's product, so the renders are safe to use on a commercial site without a trademark question. Each device has a screen aspect ratio shown in the statistics line so you can crop the screenshot to fit; the image is stretched to the screen, and a mismatch will distort it.
Screenshot and poses
Drop a PNG or JPEG and it fills the screen. Phones and tablets can stand up, turned a little towards the camera, or lie flat on the floor for a top-down shot. The laptop lid angle opens or closes the screen between sixty and one hundred and twenty degrees, with one hundred as the natural typing angle. Drag to orbit for any other view, scroll to zoom, and press Fit view after changing the device to bring it back into frame.
Colours, lighting and background
Black, Silver and White are the usual device finishes and are lit by a three-light studio rig with a soft shadow on the floor. The Studio background is dark grey, Light and White are for clean product shots, and Transparent removes the backdrop and the floor shadow, giving a PNG with alpha for compositing onto a landing page hero, an App Store screenshot or a slide.
Download size
Download PNG renders the current view at preview size, twice preview size or 3840 pixels wide. The screen texture is used at its own resolution, so a high-resolution screenshot stays crisp at 4K.
What this is not
The shapes are simplified. There are no buttons, cameras, ports or logos, no screen reflection and no keyboard keys on the laptop. For a photographic, brand-specific mockup use a photographer's PSD template; for a clean, quick, legally uncomplicated render this is enough.
Privacy
The screenshot is decoded and rendered locally. Nothing is uploaded and the page works offline once loaded.
FAQ
What screenshot size should I use?
Match the screen ratio shown in the statistics line: roughly 9:19.5 for the phone, 3:4 for the tablet and 16:10 for the laptop. Take the screenshot at the device's native resolution, or crop an existing one to that ratio, so it is not stretched.
Are these real phones and laptops?
No. They are generic shapes with typical proportions, deliberately not modelled on any manufacturer's product, so the renders are safe to use commercially without a brand's permission.
Can I download a transparent PNG?
Yes. Choose Transparent in the background menu and the download has an alpha channel and no floor shadow, so it can be placed on any background in an image editor or on a web page.
Why is the screenshot distorted?
The image is stretched to fill the screen, so a screenshot with a different aspect ratio is squashed or stretched. Crop it to the ratio in the statistics line before dropping it.
