How the Video Progress Bar works
This video progress bar tool burns an animated bar into your clip that fills from left to right as the video plays, so viewers always know how much is left. It is popular on Reels, Shorts and TikTok because people stay longer when they can see the end coming. Pick a colour and style, then download.
Why add a video progress bar
Short-form apps often hide their own scrubber, and a visible bar is a simple retention trick: once a viewer sees the video is nearly over, they are more likely to finish it. Tutorials, quizzes and listicles use it to show pace, and presenters use it on looping screens so people know when the next part starts.
Styles
Edge to edge runs the full width of the frame along the very top or bottom, like a browser loading bar. Floating pill sits slightly in from the edges with rounded ends, which keeps it clear of app buttons and captions. The background track shows the unfilled part in a translucent dark strip so the bar reads on bright footage.
Timer
Turn on the timer to show the elapsed and total time, or a countdown of the time left, beside the bar. It is drawn with a soft shadow so it stays readable over any picture.
Placement on social apps
TikTok and Reels put their own captions and buttons along the bottom, so a top bar, or a floating pill, is often easier to see there. On YouTube and landscape video the bottom edge works well.
FAQ
Does the progress bar match the video exactly?
Yes. The bar is drawn from the video's own playback position on every frame, so it is empty on the first frame and full on the last. It does not drift, even if the clip has a variable frame rate.
Is my video uploaded to add the progress bar?
No. The clip plays in your browser and each frame is recorded on your own device with the bar drawn on top. Nothing is sent to a server, so private or unreleased videos stay on your computer.
Why does processing take as long as the video?
The page records the video while it plays in real time, so a one-minute clip takes about a minute. This is how browsers record video without uploading it, and it keeps the original sound perfectly in sync with the picture.
