How the Words With Friends Word Finder works

This Words With Friends word finder shows every word you can build from your seven tiles, ranked by points using the game's own letter values. Add ? for a blank, include letters already on the board to play through, and filter by the start or end of the word.

How the Words With Friends word finder scores

Words With Friends uses different tile values from Scrabble. B and C are worth 4 instead of 3, H is worth 3 instead of 4, and J is worth 10. Using all seven tiles in one turn adds a 35-point bonus rather than Scrabble's 50. The scores shown are before double and triple squares, which depend on placement.

Why the word list fits this game

Words With Friends was first built on the ENABLE word list, the same public-domain list used here. The game has since added and removed some words, especially slang and offensive terms, so a handful of results may be rejected in the app and a few newer words may be missing.

Getting the most from a rack

Look past the top score. A slightly lower play that keeps a balanced rack, such as holding an S or a blank, often scores more over the next two turns. Switch the tile values to Scrabble to compare how the same letters score in the other game.

FAQ

Are Words With Friends and Scrabble letter values the same?

No. Most one-point letters match, but several consonants differ by one or two points, and the bingo bonus is 35 rather than 50. That is why the same word can rank differently in each finder.

Can I enter more than seven letters?

Yes. Add board letters in their own box so they are counted correctly, or type them into the rack if you just want to explore. The finder accepts up to fifteen tiles plus any board letters.

Does it show where to place the word?

No. It lists the words your tiles can make and their base scores. Finding the best spot means checking the premium squares on your board, which the finder cannot see.
