How the Pillars Of Eternity Name Generator works

A Pillars of Eternity name generator for characters by culture type. Pillars of Eternity is a fantasy RPG with muskets, colonial frontiers, merchant republics and island empires, and each culture has a real-world flavour. Pick a culture type and generate a name for your hero, your companions or a whole cast for a gunpowder fantasy campaign.

How the Pillars of Eternity name generator works

Each culture type is inspired by a real-world culture. The colonial frontier uses Welsh and English names, Emrys Hallowbrook. The merchant republic uses Italian names, Cosimo Malvezzi. The island seafarers, a tall ocean-going people, use Polynesian-inspired names, Makoa Ironkeel. The forest tribes use Gaelic names, Siobhan of the Mist Vale. The northern elves, pale folk from icy lands, use Nordic names, Sigrun Frostveil. The god-touched, people born marked by a god, get a short name and an epithet about their divine feature, Cinder, Flame-Marked. The small furry folk get short, quick names and animal-like surnames, Kitka Thistlefur.

    FAQ

How do I name a Pillars of Eternity character?

Choose the culture your character grew up in and use a matching name. A colonist from the frontier should sound Welsh or English, while a sailor from the islands should sound Polynesian, so the name tells other players where your character comes from.

    What does god-touched mean?

God-touched characters are born marked by a god, with features like glowing eyes, a flame for hair or a mask-like face. Their names are short and striking, with an epithet like Moon-Crowned that describes the mark they carry.

What are small furry folk names like?

The small furry folk are quick, clever and often underestimated, so their names are short and snappy, like Pim or Rikko. Surnames like Quickpaw or Tuftear add a playful, animal-like touch that fits their size and speed.

Can I use these names in other games?

Yes. The names are original and fit any fantasy RPG with gunpowder, colonies and seafaring empires, as well as tabletop campaigns that want a cast with real-world cultural flavour instead of the usual elves, dwarves and humans.
